Although the tour is free, we ask that you please tip your Tour Guy. They work really hard to show you a great time and this is how they make a living.
Heart of Toronto (1.5 hours)
This short but sweet mini-tour will take you around the few blocks surrounding Toronto City Hall. Starting at Old City Hall, the tour will take you past the Eaton Centre, Nathan Philips Square, and many more landmarks, before finishing back where you started. It is a great introduction to Toronto, and perfect for people new to the city, or for residents who want to learn more about the things they see every day downtown.

Hello to everyone who is interested in an fabulous tour through Toronto.
In September 2009 in read about a Walking Tour in my youth hostel in Toronto. Since I believe you have to get to know a city on foot, this was a perfect way for me to do so. AND it is for free. Everyone is welcome to join the tour. So if you ever see a guy with a “Tour Guys Toronto“ sign on his backpack in the streets of Toronto fell free to join the group. You will see interesting places and building, partly hidden in side roads and backyards you would not find on your own and hear stories and facts to those places and buildings. Jason provides two tours, one through Downtown the other through Chinatown and Kensington Market. You should do both to if you have the time. I can highly recommend those tours. Jason has a very entertaining and witty way of presenting historical facts and some stories around them.

Hallo an alle die an einer fantastischen Stadttour durch Toronto interessiert sind.
Ich habe im September 2009 über einen Aushang in meiner Jugendherberge in Toronto von einer geführten Walkin Tour gelesen (sprich: eine zu Fuss Tour). Da ich ohnehin der Meinung bin, eine Stadt muss man zu Fuss kennen lernen war das genau das Richtige für mich. UND, die Tour von Jason ist zudem noch Gratis. Jeder, auch Passanten, die zufällig der Tour über den Weg laufen können einfach mitgehen und einige tolle zum Teil etwas verstecke Plätze sehen und interessante Informationen zur Stadt erhalten. Wie ich bei meiner ersten Tour durch die so genannte Downtown Area erfuhr macht Jason insgesamt zwei Touren durch Toronto. Eine, wie schon erwähnt Downtown und die zweite durch Chinatown und Kensington Market. Da ich von der ersten Tour schon begeistert war habe ich mir natürlich auch die zweite nicht entgehen lassen wollen. Die Touren beginnen jeweils vor dem Rathaus an dem großen Wasserbecken vor der Touristen Information (einer recht kleinen “Hütte“). Jason läuft zur angekündigten Zeit mehrmals um das Wasserbecken mit einem “Tour Guys Toronto“ Schild um auch alle Interessierten einzusammeln bevor es los geht. Wenn ihr in Toronto einen Mann mit dem “Tour Guys Toronto“ Schild auf seinem Rücksack seht dann schiesst euch bei Interesse einfach an. Bei der Downtown Tour erzählt Jason an verschieden Stellen zu verschiedenen Bauten wann diese entstanden und weitere historisch und interessante Fakte zu Personen und Bauten. Dabei sind seine Ausführungen alles andere als Trocken und langweilig herunter geleierte Floskeln. Er versteht es seine Ausführungen interessant und mit Witz zu gestalten. Angefangen beim alten Rathaus und den entstellten Fratzen im Eingangsbereich, warum, wieso und wer soll das sein. Wären euch die Fratzen überhaupt aufgefallen? Ein weiteres interessantes Gebäude ist das Tropenhaus. Ein von aussen unscheinbares Häuschen in dem man das ganze Jahr über durch einen kleinen tropischen Wald gehen kann (Eintritt frei). Er ist wirklich sehr klein aber trotzdem einen Besuch wert. Jason führ seine Tour auch durch kleinere Strassen durch die man sonst eher nicht kommen würde und zeigt auch dort nette etwas in Hinterhöfen gelegene Anlagen wie den so genannten Garten Eden (mit schönen Springbrunnen Anlagen). Tipps Wo man gut und günstig Essen kann sind natürlich auch dabei. Aber ich will euch jetzt nicht die ganze Tour niederschreiben. Ein bisschen was sollte ja noch für Jason bleiben. Die Dauer ist auf etwas zwei bis drei Stunden gesetzt aber wie lange es tatsächlich geht häng auch immer etwas von den Teilnehmern ab und wie viele Fragen zurückgestellt werden. Alles in allem lohnt es sich beide Touren mitzumachen, wenn es die eigene Zeitplanung zulässt. Die Touren finden an unterschiedlichen Tagen statt. Genaue Termine und Zeiten solltet ihr bei der Tourist Information vor dem Rathaus einholen, ich weiss nicht ob sich an diesen inzwischen etwas geändert hat.
Du muss auch erwahnen Christina, dass Jason nur Englisch spricht… Nicht Deutsch…

Thanks Eric! That’s true. I don’t speak German, but I’m quite impressed with the English I’ve heard spoken by German visitors here – even ones who have not done much traveling before! I used to teach English, and know how hard it is to learn a language. I also know how to explain things in a way that most people can understand.

Great Idea, but Heritage Toronto does not have a Reservation System for free Tours.
